Welcome back to another year of school! This year Folwell is under construction so the departments of French and Italian are scattered throughout campus. The faculty and professors are located in Klaeber Court while the grad students are in Williamson and classes are Kolthoff, Nicholson and all sorts of places. Culture Shock will be hosting conversation groups this year. French Conversation group will meet Fridays 3:30-4:30 at Bordertown Coffee on 315 16th Avenue SE. Keep checking back for the time for Italian Conversation group.
Also, Culture Shock is looking for native speaker of French and Italian to write posts for the blog. If you are interested in writing in French or Italian please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The French and Italian Department is looking for volunteer tutors in French and in Italian for Fall 2010! This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity in which you can be of great help to other students. It also looks very good on a resume. To be eligible to tutor, you must have completed French 3015 or Italian 3015 with a “B+” or better.
To be a tutor, please submit an unofficial transcript andA very brief statement of interest, including your name, email address, phone number and the name of at least one French or Italian instructor (preferably from the University of Minnesota), and the hours you would be available to tutor to Professor Judith Preckshot (for French) or to the Director of Lower Division Italian, Ms. Carlotta Dradi-Bower (for Italian) :
